UPDATE AUGUST 26th, 2005 - Hey folks, this is =alienfirst your friendly neighborhood pseudo-admin. Truth-to-tell, I was given the community information LONG ago so I could help with applications and such. Obviously I never did. Until now. I was looking around at the communities I had joined and saw that this place hadn't been touched in a while. Figuring I had the information, I logged in and saw the 20-some notes from people wanting to join and... I added those that wanted to! Now, I know a lot of them were sent ages ago, so if you changed your mind and don't want to be in the community, just send a note, and I'll try and log back in in a few days to a week and fix that up for you.

I'd also go ahead and get the contest stuff handled, but I'm not sure how that would work, and I don't want to be overstepping my boundaries. I'd also like to say that it was so difficult not to go browsing through all the new applicants galleries. I saw some really neat stuff, and if it wasn't 1AM where I'm at now, I would definately take some take to browse through them all.

Original Artists is a club for people who draw their own original characters designed by themselves rather than fan art, animals, scenery, portraits and stuff that does not come out of their own imagination. Original characters does not have to be characters out of your story or something, they are just characters that do not exist in any movie/manga/anime/book series, and you just draw them out of randomness! Creatures designed by yourself are accepted.

CONTESTS


So here's the deal, most if not nearly all of you draw your own original characters so let's show them off/battle them out. Submit the pic, does not have to have a bg, with a quick description. That can be a short history, stats, a quote, a quirk, favourite things, anything that'll make his/her/its personality shine through.

Revisiting the Female Character Contest (or, the Miss Congeneality Contest) since that never got fully underway.

Entries should be of female character(s) who
are well...feminine. Or can at least look that way in the picture. Even if she's toting a rifle, she should at least have on a pretty dress. The frillier the better. I'd reccomend for elegant dress inspirations. Btw, if you've got a guy with such tastes, go ahead and enter him.

Those who entered before, I have your entries but if you want to you can do new ones or leave your old ones in there or not have them entered at all. Note the club with your choice please.

FEATURED MEMBERS

For members who were reccomended to me by another member, reccomended themselves, or are members I came across.

They are chosen based on the originality of their artwork, or the intrigue of their characters. Originality is determined by: striking or unique style of drawing, or something that makes their work stand out above others.

for reccomendations by others - send a note please with your reccomendation, why you reccomend this artist, and one artwork of the person you wish to see featured.

for reccomending yourself - send a note also with an artwork you believe represents your others and makes you unique. Keep in mind that you may not necessarily be featured.

artists chosen by me : artists who submit to the club contests are more likely to be featured by me simply because their work is crossing my path. Same goes for new members who send two examples of their artwork.

JOINING:
You must have at least 2 original artworks in your gallery. That's the only requirement. Of course, you should have an interest for original artworks too. Please provide the links to your 2 original artworks in your application note. Send us a note with subject 'Join'.

If you do not receive a reply within a week OR you are not listed in the journal by that time, send in your note again! We may have lost it!
Sometimes, just to get through everyone in time, we may not send a reply note.

Watching the club does not make you a member!!! Applications in comments area will also be ignored!

If you do not have original artworks but you like to admire original artworks you may join as a supporter. Please indicate so in your application if you want to join as supporter.

Note: Don´t forget to add the club´s icon in your journal...just write :icon OriginalArtists: without the space

What We Do

Like other clubs, we will have competitions, but we will try not to implement themes for competitions since we are promoting originality.


We yak away about our artworks and get ideas and critiques from fellow members.

We can hold art trades and collaborations. If any two (or more, extra points for more) do a collab, be sure to note us about it.
